Lenten 2026 Reflection Opportunities

Evening Prayer – Beginning Sunday, February 22 at 5:00 pm – The traditional Evening Prayer consisting of scripture readings, psalms, and quiet reflection, will be offered in the school chapel on February 22, March 1,8, and 22.

Stations of the Cross – Beginning Friday, February 20 at 7 pm – In the Church every Friday evening during Lent.

Sacrament of Reconciliation – Confessions are heard on Friday night at St. Valentine at 6:00 pm. The Family of Parishes’ service will be celebrated at St. Valentine Parish on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 pm.

Evening Prayer & Reflection – Wednesdays, March 4 & March 18 – St. Valentine’s will offer two evenings of reflection, beginning with a soup supper at 6:00 pm. Afterwards a video from the Wild Goose program will be shown followed by discussion.

Family of Parishes Evening of Praise and Worship – Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 pm. – St. John XXIII parish is hosting an evening of discussion, adoration, and hospitality. Fr. Stephen’s talk is titled “Repent and Believe in the Gospel.”

Evening of the Holy Spirit, March 15 – Confirmation for the Family of Parishes will be at St. Valentine’s this year. To prepare ourselves for this sacrament of the Holy Spirit, St. Val’s is offering a special service to reflect on Him. The evening will consist of prayer, scripture readings, music, and reflection with an emphasis on the Holy Spirit. This is a great opportunity for our parish community to come together to call upon the Holy Spirit for His guidance and wisdom.

Reflection for First Sunday of Lent

As you reflect on this Gospel, consider how these temptations of Jesus resonate within your own life. Imagine that the Devil has decided to turn his attention to you this coming week, to test you, tempt you, to try to stop you from following Jesus. He is going to approach you in three different ways. What might those ways be for each of us? Wrestling with this question is an important task of our Lenten journey and our commitment to Come, Walk with Me.

 

This first Sunday of Lent, we invite each of us to take one of these key chains which tells us who we are called to become. Let this Lent be a time for us to respond.

 As we leave tonight and begin our Lenten journey, let each of us commit ourselves to the invitation to “Come, Walk with Me.” In these next five weeks, let us seek opportunities to encounter Christ in a deeper more committed way.

Calling All Former Alum Passion Play Participants, School & Faith Formation

As we prepare for our upcoming Passion Play, we find ourselves reflecting with gratitude on those who have helped bring this sacred story to life in years past. Your involvement as a 7th and 8th grader a few years ago or many, many years ago as a Passion Play participant at St. Valentine left a lasting mark, and it would be a true blessing to welcome you back on Good Friday, April 3rd as part of the “crowd”.

We warmly invite you to join us again—The Passion Play is not only a performance, but an opportunity for fellowship, reflection, and shared faith, and your presence would mean a great deal to us.
