The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service of Scripture and song that dates to the
late 19th century. In this service, we listen to Scripture lessons which recount the Fall,
the promise of a Messiah, the Incarnation, and the Great Commission to preach the
Good News. Each lesson is followed by a carol or other song that reflects on the
lesson’s message and a brief prayer.
This service is a great way to help us slow down, as we prepare for the Coming of the
Christ–child. We hear the stories and join in the carols to help place our mind, heart and
soul in the right place before Christmas.
This year we will have our Festival on Sunday, December 11th at 4pm in the church. It is
a wonderful opportunity for the entire family to hear the story of the preparation for the
Christ–child, all in one sitting.

Advent 2022 Prayer Opportunities
This Advent season St. Valentine’s is offering several ways to “REMEMBER CHRIST’S BIRTH AND PREPARE FOR HIS COMING AGAIN.
You and your family are invited to
· Light the Advent Candle at the beginning of mass during the Advent season (Sign
up in the church vestibule)
· Attend Evening Prayer on November 27, December 4, and December 18. The service will begin at 5:00 pm in the school chapel and is
about ½ hour long. Evening Prayer (also called Vespers) helps to fulfill Jesus’ command to “Pray always.”
· Attend Lessons & Carols on Sunday, December 11 at 4 pm in the church. This service tells the story of Salvation History using sacred readings and songs.
· Attend the Reconciliation Service on Wednesday, December 14 at 7 pm at St. Valentine’s.

Enrollment Sunday, November 13, 2022
Father Socorro enrolled and blessed the young people who will be receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, or Confirmation in the coming months. We all pray for them as a parish family and know that God will bless them.
